On February 11th, our Board of Directors met in London. We welcomed two new board members: Jose Viñals and Silvana Koch-Mehrin. They are joined by David Cruickshank, Michael Green, Brizio Biondi-Morra, Sally Osberg, Matthew Bishop, Álvaro Rodríguez Arregui and Roberto Artavia Loría. As the group chairmen of Standard Chartered PLC, Jose Viñals’ expertise on political and economic dynamics of international markets is unparalleled. His experience with global markets and international institutions will be invaluable to advancing the Social Progress Imperative’s mission to use data to make smarter policy and investment decisions, says CEO Michael Green. Viñals “believes the Social Progress Index is the tool policymakers and business leaders need, and he looks forward to working together with staff and fellow board members to scale its adoption worldwide. Silvana Koch-Mehrin is president and founder of the Women’s Political Leadership Global Form and a former vice-president of the European Parliament. Silvana Koch-Mehrin has exceptional influence in driving international female leadership and states, “I look forward to working with my new colleagues at Social Progress to drive wider adoption of the index and help leaders create smarter policies.”
