Former Global Chairman of Deloitte Global Takes on Leadership of the Social Progress Imperative Board

We are excited to announce that David Cruickshank, former Deloitte Global Board Chair and a member of the Social Progress Imperative board since 2015, has been appointed as the Board of Directors Chair for the Social Progress Imperative effective July 23rd. As its Chair, the Social Progress Imperative will continue to benefit from David’s experience with global markets and his leadership in promoting the role of business in advancing societal impact and inclusive growth. David is taking over for Brizio Biondi-Morra, Chair Emeritus of the INCAE Business School and former President of Fundación Avina. Brizio has served as the Social Progress Imperative’s Chair since the organization was established in 2012, leading the transformation of SPI from an idea to measure success differently into a tool and framework adopted by leaders around the world. Brizio will remain on the Board of Directors the Social Progress Imperative.

We also welcome Sharon Thorne, who succeeds David as the Deloitte Global Board Chair, to the Social Progress Imperative Board. Sharon was previously the Deputy CEO and Managing Partner Global & Strategy of Deloitte North West Europe (NWE), and a member of the Deloitte Board of Directors. Sharon is an audit partner with more than 30 years of experience auditing and advising clients across a broad range of sectors. This includes extensive experience serving as lead audit partner for FTSE-listed clients, and an outstanding record of delivering service with quality and distinction. As a passionate advocate for inclusion within Deloitte, Sharon is a leading champion of the firm’s commitment to creating an inclusive workplace, setting up the UK firm’s diversity network in 2007 and serving as executive sponsor for the Deloitte UK LGBT+ network since 2010. She is a vocal advocate for the importance of excellence in people leadership.

We are immensely appreciative of the on-going support from all our Board members and partners. Learn more about our board and who we are at the Social Progress Imperative.
